I take it that Giant is some kind of super-supermarket?Originally posted by sbst275:I dunno
Actually when I reached Parkway Parade, I almost forgot there's a Giant there
It's a hypermarket, but kinda local version of CarrefourOriginally posted by Meia Gisborn:I take it that Giant is some kind of super-supermarket?

Wow! I remember the bus terminal at the airport. Got on and off there a few times when I was still in Singapore, and I recall the heat too. It sounds like that area is not being properly ventilated, and I'd be worried about carbon monoxide buildup from the bus exhausts too.Originally posted by sbst275:It's a hypermarket, but kinda local version of Carrefour
It's sister of Cold Storage
Anyway, it's no longer the days NTUC is the largest supermarket chain operator
Lucky didn't take bus to Changi... The basement bus terminal is like sauna...

Speaking of supermarkets, does anyone remember Fitzpatrick's????
I was actually sad to see Fitzpatrick's go belly-up. Have fond memories of going to the one on Orchard Road with my parents and walking up the spiral staircase to the Indian barbershop on the mezzanine level for haircuts while they shopped for groceries on the main level. This was probably back in the early 70s.Originally posted by the Bear:hasn't existed for more than a decade...

one packet of fried bee hoon and noodles, chicken wings, some fried wontons, fried egg

"Kinder" and "gentler" appeals to me very much, especially right now!Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:I was actually sad to see Fitzpatrick's go belly-up. Ah, yes... the memories of growing up in a "kinder, gentler" Singapore...![]()
