Need to ask you guys in Sg some questions. I'm exploring the option of returning to SG for 12 months. My main concern is schooling for my kids. They don't speak Mandarin. I've talked to SAS there. Too expensive. I'm researching the other American school there. My last resort would be to enrol them in a SG school. What do you think and does anyone have other ideas? Thanks!

Jetta ... trust me .... enrolling them in a Singapore school would not improve their mandarin ... it may just degrade their English too if anything ! ...
my take ? Don't force the language on the kids ... let them learn and explore on their own ... maybe join an asian social group or something, there has got to be asian cultural centres around or something eh ... if they are truly not interested, then it doesn't really matter eh ... they can get in touch with their roots in other ways ... if it becomes an economic neccessity in the future, heck, that is always the ultimate motivator, and they'll pick it up anyways .... -

Okae, jokes aside. I am serious about the vacation. Maybe they could get involved in more meaningful projects like community service or home school them ? Or is there pressure on them o coninue their school work ?

I'm looking for a second language exemption, sorry if I didn't make myself clear. Thanks, Bear. They will be in the 8th and 6th grades next school year. They are products of the US education system so the Oz school in Sg wouldnt' be a good fit since it's tailored to the Oz system. My hubby may be going to Afghanistan or Qatar for 6 months, which is why I'm exploring this option.
