well, after about 7 months, they finally got the work permit and everything else done.. all except the visa...
visa.. "can apply online".. but requires things like x-rays and all kinds of documents to be sighted by them... uhh.. like that, apply online for what?
well, sis went there coz telephone enquiries only allowed between 2pm to 4pm on mondays, tuesdays, thursdays and fridays.. counters are open only from 9am to 12noon..
wonder what they do the other times? drink beer and throw shrimps on the barbie?
things which will take 1 to 3 days in Singapore, take about 7 months or more in Australia...
i guess there's no need to wonder why my sister is being hired instead of a native australian to be trained and run the asia-pacific branch -
just finished my first final ,....
came out an hour early ....... a good start ! ....

Nowadays, when my agent tells me, "It'll be done in a week!", I will mentally multiply that by 3 or to be on the really safe side, by 4! I've come to learn that when they promise "1 week", it'll be more like "3-4 weeks"! 
I guess this gives me the opportunity to slowly adapt to my new lifestyle over there!

yeah .... dream on ..... nope.. not to stereotype ethnic groups, races, creeds or whatever, the migrants from the Indian sub-continent who get jobs in their civil service, put the natives to shame in terms of inefficiency and general ineffectiveness
if i go there, i'd probably be coasting and still be able to put out hell of a lot more productivity than a few of them put together working at 150% capacity
i mean.. it's a lousy work permit and a visa!! it took more than 7 months!! -
