I dun want any warehouse sale ... I want a books warehouse sale ....Originally posted by Rhonda:Awww...
Hey, Fatum, don't you guys have warehouse sales over in Canada too? I'm sure they could even be on a larger scale than what we have here!
If you wanna, I'll try and take photos... if I can! (Sometimes, the staff can be pretty anal about picture-taking... so that's where the neat li'l cellphone camera comes in handy!)
There's this book I really really reeeeeely wanna read - Julie and Julia. It's a book that started off as a blog and it recently won some award. I hope they have it at the Warehouse Sale cause sometimes, they do have the odd copy or two of new releases on sale there.Originally posted by Fatum:I dun want any warehouse sale ... I used to trawl for those cheap penguin classics on sale around town, and come back with an arm load each time .....
nah .... books are expensive here, probably because they are a tree hugging country ......Originally posted by Rhonda:There's this book I really really reeeeeely wanna read - Julie and Julia. so.. gambling is bad, gambling is evil.. so why the hell does the gabrament go through the casinos and also the singapore pools?

if society's chaps are congenital gamblers, may as well it be the gov that creams them off rather than some underground bookie eh ? ....
to be honest, I'm not so fond of the casino idea too ... but not because of the gambling .....
I have this feeling that Singapore is moving towards a society where gaps between the haves and the have nots are getting wider .... and this casion will be a jarring reminder of that division when it's completed ......
I'm not sure Singapore is moving towards a society I'd like to see ....![]()

This guy, Duke Cunningham, accepted bribes from defence contractors. Did it for years. Got exposed last year and sentenced last month. 9 years in prison. All the spoils were auctioned last month. They only got $94K. The man had millions!Originally posted by the Bear:hey jetta, what happened there?
and fatum, as long as people who believe in things like you do, and are willing to come back and make a change, we have a chance.. the world has a chance..
apathy is the tool of the corporatocracy... and from i see around, a lot of people are actually proud of their own ignorance and apathy, wearing it as a badge of pride where there's only shame...
in fact, the media promotes it
sad isn't it?

Hateful you know. He got a lenient sentence just because he fought in WWII. He even had a bribery scale you know, which he kept, in case he got confused. Didn't want to charge one more than the other!!!!Originally posted by the Bear:lemme guess.. he's republican
well, let's hope he gets sent to a PMITA prison
