WIth the exception of folks who try to profit from accidents by buying 4D, I guess most other folks might not come up to offer help because maybe, they are clueless about what to do?Originally posted by elindra:I guess most ppl are just curious and only a few will help.
Like my past experience from a bad auto accident. So many gawkers and only less than 5 ppl attempted to help

Basically, it was a video of this guy who backed his car and hit an old lady, he stopped his car for a while, then drove his car forward, then drove back again!![]()

When he got out of his car to check on the old lady, a passerby stopped to look then continued on. Another rode by on his bike, looked, and rode on.
The old lady was brought to the hospital, but died because of her serious injuries.![]()

I remember a friend in this line telling me that people often complain of the response time to accidents in Singapore, but it's often because they didn't receive the heads up till much later ... is it true Rhonda ? ....
Obviously he is not thinkingOriginally posted by Rhonda:OK, watched that clip again and it wasn't just three times... the reporter said, FIVE times!!![]()
First time, back wheels of car rolled over 64-year old lady taking a stroll. Car paused, then driver backed car again, front wheels rolled onto the lady. Then driver moved forward, back wheels rolled onto old lady, car stopped. Driver backed car AGAIN, back wheels crushed lady again! Then, driver drover forward again, back wheels went over lady one more time!![]()

At the end of the clip, the cameraman zoomed in on the camera that filmed the entire incident - it was a security camera mounted high up on a pole at what looked like the compound of a condominium in Taiwan.Originally posted by elindra:Obviously he is not thinking![]()

I'd call the emergency services(police/ambulance) but thats all. Nothing else. I won't even go near the person or attempt to render any assistance because of 2 reasons:Originally posted by Rhonda:WIth the exception of folks who try to profit from accidents by buying 4D, I guess most other folks might not come up to offer help because maybe, they are clueless about what to do?

From the looks of it it looks like he was trying to make sure that she diedOriginally posted by Rhonda:
Hard to imagine that the driver can drive over a human and not realise something was amiss cause he would've felt his car go BUMP! and then there'll be this up-down motion too!

#2 is an issue I've felt contentious about since we covered Law in our 1st Year in Nursing School.Originally posted by av98m:I'd call the emergency services(police/ambulance) but thats all. Nothing else. I won't even go near the person or attempt to render any assistance because of 2 reasons:
1. My first aid/cpr expired liao and I didn't go renew it
2. See no.1. Don 't want to be sued by family in case I try to help and the chap dies anyway.
I think it is not so bad in Singapore, though alot of Singaporeans are becoming more opportunistic and is starting to sue like the Americans. The only thing is that our jurisdiction system here will not tolerate nonsense claim like that stonefish case.Originally posted by Rhonda:#2 is an issue I've felt contentious about since we covered Law in our 1st Year in Nursing School.
If a Good Samaritan stops by the roadside to assist someone in need, but that someone somehow ends up getting new injuries as a result, or the condition doesn't improve, would the Good Samaritan therefore be liable?
See, in CPR, it's quite common to fracture the person's rib(s). I've done it twice, but it's pretty inevitable.
Should the fear of being sued for fracturing the person's ribs stop me from performing CPR in the first place?
And, why would the family even want to sue a Good Samaritan?
Ethical issues, hard to reach a conclusion...
Wondering if this topic ought to be a new thread. What do you guys think?
