I think it was revealed by his mom that he brought up the size problem to her previously, and being newsworthy the media highlighted this topic.

Y'know, that's why I said some time back that if we keep on harping about looks and sexuality, sooner or later, someone would commit suicide because he/she felt that they aren't good looking or sexy or adequate.
Increasingly, I feel that our society is becoming shallower and shallower... looks DO matter tremendously these days. I've seen girls skip meals everyday in their quest to remain slim and these people end up with nasty gastric ailments whilst they're still very young. Really not worth it.
But, in a society that rewards beauty and sexiness, lots of girls take that option.
In the US, I read an article a while back about girls as young as nine, going on diets because they wanted to be slim and sexy!
NINE and they are already perceiving their self-worth based on how pretty / ugly they are?!
It has boiled down to "Are you pretty / handsome / sexy or not?" as a determinant of one's self-worth. Isn't that sad? It no longer matters if you're 'nice'... if you don't have the looks, you'd not be given the time of day. -

it wasn't so long ago that ADD and ADHD were exposed to be rubbish and that children were being drugged for profit..
but for a whole decade, shrinks were diagnosing children as suffering from that and medicating the poor saps accordingly..
sometimes, you have to use common sense... give the "suffering" idiot a coupla tight slaps and tell the idiot to get a grip, wake the hell up and stop fricken living in a delusion.. -
Its not just looks, ageism too, especially in the job market. Unless of course, you're a PAP MP or Minister.
