It's a good month for me in terms of reading. At least, I've broken my dry reading spell liao! Yay!!
First book I finished reading for this year :
John Case... one of my favourite authors because he writes really good medical thrillers!
He departed from that genre with this book, which centres on the father of a pair of kidnapped twin boys going after the kidnapper. Really gripping tale! Finished the book in 1.5 days flat! Was hard to put down! -
startin on the dreamer part 1 by david n leigh eddings.
just finished murder in lamut and also honoured enemy by raymond e feist. -
Yesterday, whilst browsing at Times the Bookshop, I chanced upon this :
This book covers the life of a Michelin 3-star French Chef of international repute, Bernard Loiseau of La Cote d'Or, leading up to his shocking suicide in 2003.
I couldn't put this book down and despite it costing more than $20 (which is a big deal to me since I'm now in-between jobs
), and couldn't leave the bookshop without it. Started reading it whilst walking towards my bus stop, and only put it down when I got distracted by a new computer game last night. 
The demise of a powerful, successful man... under his own hands, no less! I'm so curious about what really happened and since I'm a foodie and admire chefs, this book naturally draws me to it. -

Books I really really wanna read... but bo lwee :
Powell became an Internet celebrity with her 2004 blog chronicling her yearlong odyssey of cooking every recipe in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
THis book is unique in that it started as a blog.
It was also nominated for some literary award recently.
But it costs $28.88!!
Even after 10% discount, it's still pretty ex ...
Well, maybe I'll get it in Australia with my first paycheck!

other than my notes and textbooks .... my current bedside and toilet throne reading is
"The Malayan Trilogy" by Anthony Burgess ... (a Mars bar for anyone who can connect that name with his secondary school history textbook ... )
it's a cynical and ironic chronicle of Malayan during the communist insurgency years and the build up to merdeka ... an explosive book ... dealt with racial stereotypes and commonly held prejudices etc, the author held nothing back ..... I highly recommend it ...
(someone told me this book is banned in Malaysia, I can't confirm it though ... ) -

Deals with a dysfunctional family motif, with a "return of the prodigal son" plot veneer and studies the themes of absurdism in familial settings.

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
A funny satire on world war 2, shows the life of Captain John Yossarian, a US bombardier pilot.
Basically everyone in the story has their own agendas on what they hope to achieve during the war. From this book, you can tell that the war has made everyone crazy; all of them except Yossarian who only wishes that the war will end so he can go home.
Can be quite funny if you can stand alot of bullshit within the book -
