in this anime, there was a reason.. the main femme fatale dressed that way in order to get an "advantage"
the rest of the people dressed "normally"
story is kinda sad.. started out light-hearted but somewhere in the story, you knew there was a darkness in their past which is slowly revealed and the desperation of it all is sad in a way...
but like a kabuki, you knew it was coming, and they knew they had to play it out to the bitter end...
it was amazing... so to me, it is THE anime, even better than Rurouni Kenshin..

Now that I'm thinking about it, the only anime we watch are the kid friendly ones like Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, etc. We love Miyazaki.
