I'm sure the note issued by the VA was a CYA exercise. Still, it would be prudent to keep a close watch on your financial documents, at least for the next few months. -

"The data contained indentifying information including names, social security numbers and dates of birth for up to 26.5 million veterans and some spouses, as well as some disability ratings.
