car prices are lower though .....
maybe it's cheaper to take the plunge and buy a car ... will save in the long run ...
but seriously, they should just limit the number of cabs around .... the way they are handing out licenses, there seems to be more cabs than any other traffic on the roads nowadays ..... no wonder the taxi uncles cannot earn enough to eat ..... -
nah ....... it is the rental fees for taxi that cause the trouble ......

More ERP gantries now and with so many different times for different places that you just lose count. It's money deducted without you keeping count.
If I'm not wrong, interest rates are higher too
So how can it be cheaper to buy a car? You save on one area but pay much more on the other end -
Don't know if there are actually enough taxis in service but there aren't enough around when I need them for sure .

privatization can only work if there's meaningful competition ..... a monopoly like the SMRT doesn't not serve the public's interest by privatizing .....

The problem with cars is that it is a real pain in the arse trying to get a parking space
If it gets really bad we might have no choice but invest in a vehicle

it actually was a damned good system, better than almost all in the world... but they have to achieve "world class" by lowering their standards -
actually, i would make the people who ran the LTA go to work everyday by public transport...
make the ministers live like the common man... and take public transport...

Seriously, it's just a way to get more sheep to pay more money. Lower price of car and everyone forgets that they have to pay more toll, pay more for petrol, road tax, more interest etc etc -
