Wait, tell you what Bear, agree to the "innovation corner", just make some nice inspiring pictures with quotations from famous people and stick it around the place, then place the coffeepot and stuff there as well. When asked, just say its to encourage people to visit the corner and linger over coffee. So you have your coffee cum snack station in plain sight disguised as your "innovation corner"
If possible, try to get your bosses to actually fund the purchase of the coffee maker and even a small table and some foldable chairs
So everytime you have people standing around there yakking away, you can tell people you're having a "brainstorming session" or "discussion" And the bosses will be happy. -
