Well, i dont like onions or garlics on their own
so it goes well when they are cooked into some dishes -
chop off the tops and bottoms of a clump of garlic, dribble generous amounts of olive oil onto it on a pan.. and bung into oven...
later, take them out, remove the skins, and they can be used as part of the seasoning or marinade for other dishes.. -

I normally unload an entire bulb of garlic into the meatsauce of my spaghetti dishes. I'll pan-fry the ground beef with the diced garlic in olive oil before adding the tomato paste and other ingredients that go into the sauce.
