  This one maybe cos of parent co wants a good growth, but sadly, SMRT's only revenue of growth unlike ComfortDelGro is Singapore itself

  She said that SMRT came with the retail space may help to defray the pressure for any fare hike... In the 1st place my thinking was, how much rental can you collect that can help to defray the b%&^&* hike in diesel cost...

  I still don't understand it. SMRT claims that it needs to raise fares to deal with increased diesal costs....but here's my question. It has been making record profits year after year after year after year.....so obviously it is not having any problems with its costs. Or am I missing something?

  Actually what they want at the decent least is to maintain the profit level
  
  Look into it further, SMRT need not do any bus fleet replacement wheras for SBS, within this 5 years, they might need to replace at least 800 buses by 2009
