i think i wrenched it last night when i was asleep...
i remember waking up with a start, my arm was under the pillow and in a weird angle being weighed down by my dense head... and it hurt..
i moved my arm to another position and went back to sleep...
now.. it's starting to hurt -

Sure I know ppl can survive on a combined income of $1500
But if I were to stop working and live on my SO's pay, I think we will die even though it's more than $1500
I mean once you are used to a certain lifestyle, you really don't want to downgrade

a family can live on about $1500 a month...
but if anyone falls ill, that person will die...
and the child will have to be bloody brilliant so that the child wins all kinds of bursaries and scholarships else cannot study anymore...
the parents must be at the peak of health so that they need not take public transport and can walk to work...
they must wash their clothes by the river to minimise utility usage..
they must not be wired because they will not be able to afford computers or internet usage (so the child probably can forget about studies)
they will live on gruel and have meat once a month...
half the $1500 will go to rent as they will not be able to afford to "buy" their own house...
uhh... anymore to add? -

Summary:
The patient's daughter was given an estimate of 2 day's stay and $15,227 estimated bill.
Due to complications, actual length of stay was 344 days and actual bill was $560,000
Hospital is suing them for the bill.
If they win lives will be ruined.

So when I think back about what Lau Lee's son said in his rally speech, that heathcare is afforable for all Singaporeans, I laugh bitterly.
Better to commit suicide if you're really sick than to ruin your family, many must be thinking. A friend's uncle did exactly that. He killed himself shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. His farewell letter mentioned that he did not see the point of spending so much money when they can ill afford it.
