A few short hours ago, something amazing thing happened - Yen Yen and Colin WON THE MONTBLANC SCREENWRITERS AWARD for Singapore Dreaming!
We're still reeling from the shock. To our knowledge, this is the first time Singaporeans have ever won an international screenwriting award awarded by a major institution at a Tier 'A' international film festival.
So there you have it - a simple little film from a little island about regular Singaporean folks, told partly in English, in Mandarin and in Hokkien CAN TRANSCEND INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL BOUNDARIES and we can stop trying to make films to please notional foreign audiences by copying films from other countries. (Sorry for this outburst - but you won't believe the kind of crap our founders had gotten from certain quarters for wanting to do their 100% Singaporean story.)

Yeah, I heard he got a lot of shit from MDA for using dialects in his films, e.g. the trailer for his first movie had to have the dialects removed. Seems the authorities do not care that we ARE a multi-racial society with people speaking multiple languages and dialects and god forbid, singlish. no leh, everything was handed over to TP.
my bike is at TP now. supposed to collect today but i told them i'll head down tomorrow.
the thing is now if i claim... i wonder if he will counter claim me.

a car came out of the small lane, attempted to cut through 3 lanes to reach the u-turn section.
i was travelling on the middle lane and i smacked right between his door and the passenger door. -
oh, damage was minimal but repairs will be major. because my fairing is WRECKED, my entire headlight was smashed in.
but i hit the car and jumped off my bike and landed on my feet. -
if he's cutting across recklessly without looking and you're keeping in your lane, it's his fault..

a neighbour of mine totalled his car when he hit another car in the neighbourhood..
claim against the other person because the other person was reckless.. didn't stop at a stop sign and my neighbour had right of way..

i was in the hospital and this biker was the same as me. worried about the bike more than anything else. his friend said that we're crazy. but the biker said "riders are like that. if they are alright, they worry about the bike more than themselves, its the same everywhere"
i have a few bruises and my left knuckle is swollen from the "punch" i gave to the car when i smacked into it. -
