Sorry to disappoint you, folks, but this thread is not about people, but about flora!
I love love love flowers, and since coming to Melbourne, I've been constantly kept in awe by the lovely flowers that abound all around me! Flowers that I used to see only in photos are now right before my very eyes!
I kept wondering if it's too self-indulgent to start this thread on something that I love deeply, but I just really want to share my photos of flowers with fellow flower lovers back in Singapore as well!
I'm just a trigger-happy photographer, so the shots aren't too good but hopefully, they won't mar your enjoyment of the beauty of the flowers!

During my first weekend in Melbourne, I looked out my patio door in the lodge I was putting up in early one morning and saw that little diamonds of dew had delicately graced the surfaces of all the plants outside!
And right next to the frond, little bundles of tiny buds were waiting to spread their petal arms wide open to welcome the day!
But, oh! Wait! There... nestled near the nicely-aged wooden fence, was ... the almost-perfect pink rose!

Beautiful, but only for a while
I like looking at them but lose interest in them quickly.

Go on, Rhonda, more more! I love the dew and the pink rose! Spring is the perfect time for taking flower pictures. I would recommend the Royal botanical garden for more snaps if you have the time.

The calla one is beautiful... If the picture could be touched up a little and enlarged, I would use it as my wallpaper.

Hey! I've actually been taking lots of flower shots recently but haven't looked through them yet.
Only tip I have is to take your pictures early in the morning or early evening, when daylight is softer and more diffused. Thats when colors will look especially vibrant. Harsh sunlight is a big no no.

I don't know the name of these flowers, but they were also growing in the garden of the lodge I was staying in for the first three weeks. I thought that they looked pretty special!

Except, these are NOT lavendar and it's not in a field! Once again, it's a little area in the same garden! 
OK, that was a bad shot cause the background was supposed to be blurry whilst the foreground sharp... but anyways. -
This rose was so heavy with its elaborate gown of petals that it almost couldn't lift up its head anymore! I had to take it stooping at an awkward angle but in the end, the photo inspires a title like, "The Rose of Rosewood Manor". Very Victorian, I think!
Another picture of a don't-know-whatcha-callit flower that was again, growing at the garden of the lodge.

Let's step indoors for a short while so I can show you a few of the bouquets that have adorned my home and made it cozier.

OK, there's an interesting story behind this next bouquet!
On Saturday, in Richmond Market, I saw a bunch of vegetables with lots of bunches of tiny yellow flowers on sale. I asked the stallholder what that vegetable was and he said, "Broccoli Flowers". I'd never heard of it so I asked him how it could be cooked and he simply said, "Stir Fried". I don't think he himself knew much about the vege. I bought it anyways, thinking I'll give it a try, but I had too much food in my fridge to cook and the broccoli flowers weren't in tip-top condition for cooking after a few days. Instead of throwing it all away, in a sudden moment of inspiration, I decided to incorporate them in my vase of daffodils in the living room!
So, VOILA! A pretty result of the marriage between flowers and vegetables! -
