My way of dealing with the taichi masters is simply to accept, their taichi, since there really isn't much I can do about it. But I also make sure I get all the credit for whatever shit it is I end up doing for them. Which inevitably leads to someone higher up asking how come I'm the one doing it, which also inevitably leads to said taichi masters being asked some uncomfortable questions. junior systems analyst/programmer .... I'll be involved in the entire software cycle from inception to deployment and maintenance .... it'll be a good experience ....
but now that I have the letter of offer sitting on my lap .... I'm not sure if that's the right decision ....
hell, I even booked my one way flight already ... -

I love Fish Leong's new album. She just keeps getting better. And the recording/pressing is improved this time too! Doesn't have the slightly harsh top end that Rock Records cds usually have.
I also hope Sheryl Crow comes up with a faster/more aggressive sounding album, like her earlier releases. Her last album, wildflower, was a little too calm/new-age for me. Maybe the breakup with lance armstrong will produce some angry sounding songs as well?

Just remember that opportunities like this don't exactly come everyday. I found myself at a similar crossroad back in '91, after I had completed my graduate studies here and was preparing to return to SG. A none-too-serious attempt at gauging my employability in this country by sending out a few resumés, actually netted a job offer. I had to do some serious thinking then, and was under intense pressure to make a quick decision.
I made the decision, and I think it was the right one. I hope you'll be happy with yours.
(Is the offer for a full-time position? Is the company going to handle all the necessary paperwork to convert your immigration status?)

IT personnel (and programmers/systems analysts in particular) aren't necessarily evil.
