i dunno, but only now i'm starting to appreciate chinese names.
maybe because i'm in the stupid organisation and most of the guys are more familiar with each other's initials.
Alot of my friends just gave their kids chinese names
They think if their kid wanted an English name, let them choose it themselves
the good thing is that my dad gave me a unique English name so i'm keeping it

I would only give a Chinese name. I don't buy the bit about "convenience" or " English names are easy to remember". I'd also like to allow for my child to name him/herself, so he can choose an English name for himself if he wants to later in life!

anyone knows the procedure of choosing a chinese name?
like, can't have the same word as the grandfather or something like that? -

i remember an article where this angmoh was wondering why we're giving english names to the kids when he felt that the chinese names were beautiful.
when i asked my colleague, he said that kids might feel left out if they don't have english names. and parents don't give dialect names anymore. -

usually each family have a 'dui lian' couplets that is like their family 'motto'
And each generation would have their middle name from the couplet. So everyone from your generation would have the same middle name.
Last name just name suka suka. want pretty then choose 'mei', want bright then choose 'liang' -
Like my name... only 4 alphabets and people have problems pronoucing it

some time back when i went to refuel the bike and i paid by credit.

i think Sitoh is... Si(pronounced as "die" but 1st sound) Too
