my ex-colleague broke up with boy fren after dinner booked, flat booked, etc. but after hearing her side of the story, we support her decision. apparently 90% of the cost the flat + dinner is footed by her.
(note her ex other half is working and older then her, educated too) -

So if she wants to get married, and wants to pay...why not?

If I was to propose to bear right now.
Book dinners, send out invitations and so on.
Does bear has to go thru the ceremonies if he truly does not want to be married?

my personal opinion (since i'm also preping for da big day)
1) i also dun get the point of spending 45K on a wedding that i dun get to enjoy. i'll probably be so tired and i would definately not get to eat the food. 80% of the people would be folks i have never seen or hardly know. hardly my idea of a celebration.
my initial plans were a beach side ceremony at changi cottage. total cost $10K (with pretty do ups), $3K if my frens can help me do the deco. but my TX says "wedding dinner is for the parents not for us. plus i wan to give my mum a good wedding dinner" so wat can i say. winz oready. i am not mad enough to kill relationship with future mum-in-law just because of money.
2) ready or not i guess i different for everyone. personallly i know we r ready when we can see living with each other for the rest of our lives. and of cos it also means we r committed to each other and only to each other for the rest of our lives
