  Go for the auto. Especially if driving in sg.
  
  You just need to throw your mother into some auto car driving course to get use to it. Tell your mom.
  
  Extra 5 k can pay for her lessons, her stuffs she want to outfit the car with (from hello kitty cushions to her favourite hokkien CD songs.)

  its not about the getting used to.
  
  my mother likes manual because she rather clutch in and change gears.
  i get sleepy driving an auto actually.
  i have more fun with manual cars.

  But looking at the number of cars and traffic lights in Singapore right now.
  
  It isnt recommended. You dont know when she might be able to flex her joints as easily in another 2 years time.

  talking about traffic lights...some bone head taxi driver rammed his cab into the car in front of him when the lights changed without waiting for the driver to move first. fucking stupid completely avoidable accident. It was at the junction next to wheelock place, yesterday. I had the dubious pleasure of witnessing it firsthand. If I were the driver who got rammed, I'd be doing a road rage special on the cab driver.

  my car was at a total standstill and i was patiently waiting for the traffic to start moving in a bigass traffic jam..

  it was just a couple of scratches on the rear left...
  
  i was more worried for the motorcyclist who fell off his bike.. i wanted to bring him to the hospital but he was more concerned about my car...
  
  i actually told him "screw the car.. ARE YOU ALL RIGHT??" but he kept babbling about the car...
  
  finally told him to forget about whatever and was he okay.. any broken bones, anything? wanted to bring him to a hospital for a checkup.. but he insisted he was okay and rode off..
  
  then within 3 minutes, another motorcyclist hit another car in front of me in a similar manner..

  Everyone just want to get out of. Its worse on a motorcycle cos the engine is heating up and you are breathing in the exhaust fumes of every darn vehicle trapped in that traffic jam. Not to mention the hot sun.
  
  Drivers in cars can wait patiently because they have the aircon on.
  
  its even worse if its drizzling. Its cold, hot & road is slippery.

  i fear for motorcyclists
  
  one friend's cousin died in an accident, resulting in a ban on motorbike riding throughout the family
  
  someone from my sch died in an accident just outside the sch, she was riding a bike
  
  the army had so many accidents with bikes they had to send these chaps for defensive riding

  riding too fast on a small bike without the strength to manhandle the bike out of the way.. then skidding on a wet road and unable to pull the bike out of the skid..
  
  basically panicking, then the tailwhip causing them to be totally out of control...
  
  another thing.. it was raining, those taking cover under the bridge were riders of BIG bikes.. those still speeding like lunatics were maniacs on the little plastic bikes (mostly malaysian bikes)
