  Couldn't you specify, at order time, that you want your plate of nasi lemak prepared the "traditional" way?

  Actually, I think the cheap $1.50 ready-packed nasi lemak at the hawker center near my house is the closest approximation to that.
  
  It makes for a pretty good breakfast, methinks.
