Why do they even bother
We're at the point of no return. Why should people have children when they are being squeezed in so many ways?
rising cost of living, which includes:
rising cost of housing
rising cost of education
increased need to look for work overseas (so cannot have kids, in order to remain mobile. its also very bad for your kids if you're moving from country to country regularly)
depressed wages for lower and middle class
national service (more do not want their children to serve NS, I know I don't. I do not want my children to risk and waste their life doing NS to defend expats/foreign talent/PRs)
foreign talent policies
lack of confidence in the future
increasingly overcrowded environment
expensive and inefficient public transport
etc etc etc -
well they have to try, they need more peasants for their pay rises and 5.5 month bonuses

but hey.. i'm going to a seminar in a while.. and i'll be needing a new "office shirt" soon.... the collar is going to fall off this shirt i've had for the last 12 years -

I remember when I was young, always had to shop around for new clothes for CNY as if it's compulsory. Nowadays I just can't be bothered especially CNY is not such a big deal over here for us. I only buy new clothes when I need them.

Yep. You'll have to season it well with oil, or better still, with lard. Then use regularly to prevent rust.
