dont be.....I think she is referring to the cookhood smoke sucker thingy on top of your cookhood.Originally posted by choco B:Um, what's a rangehood? (*Feels stupid*)
Isn't it unhealthy to use too much oil for the cooking?Originally posted by viciouskitty74:Problem with non stick pans/wok is that you cannot use a metal spatula on them....you might nick off the coatings and swallowed them into your stomach.
And food shouldnt stick to the wok if you use enough oil to coat it.
Teflon is the coating as well as the Brand I think.Originally posted by choco B:Oh reason why I'm looking around for wok is because I wanna get rid of my teflon nonstick pansErr not likely to back to them again. Didn't know there are materials other than teflon though! Can you tell me any such brands to look into?

Yeah steam fish taste so much better with hot oil poured overOriginally posted by viciouskitty74:Well oil burns too, like food and can turn cancerous if you dont use it properly.
But if you are concern about the oil. Go for Normal Olive Oil. More expensive but healthier then normal cooking oil. I think NTUC nows has their housebrand 'Harvest' Olive Oils.
But seriously, the oil is wat makes the food taste good. Ask your tastebuds....try steaming something w/o oil and try steaming the same something with some oil drizzle on it.

my other half & dad loves to do the "Heat then add oil" method on the non-stick wok. it is supposed to be "ADD OIL then heat"Originally posted by honeymouse:Isn't it unhealthy to use too much oil for the cooking?
The wok I have at home is not a Teflon but other material. Anyway, I am using a wooden spatula for most of the cooking so it doesn't bother me.
For those who use Teflon wok/frying pan, just do not overheat it then it should be safe. Usually if you're cooking stuffs with oil, the temperature would not go over the "dangerous" level that's going to cause any health concern. That's what I heard on a TV program recently.
