Here's the photo of our kitchen before and after the renovation.... I think the kitchen is probably the main feature (best looking) of our whole house... Cost us a bomb though for the makeover but it's worth it.

Right now my only dream is to save up enough money to be able to afford to stay in one of the Halls in NUS next year. With my final-year project coming up, the added convenience of not having to spend 3 hours a day on the road will be a great boost.
Failing which, I'm hoping to be able to rent a room near NUS. Doesn't have to be the Clementi area... anywhere in the West is a great improvement over my current situation. -

How do I instruct the contractor to build something like that? Do I just buy the oven and he'll measure it out & build?
Is the oven like tight-fitting and fits permanently in the hole, or is it just an empty shelf and you slot the oven in?

Anyway, I'm quite spoilt living at Simei with the MRT at the doorstep and so many things just a 5 mins walk away -
Yes, you do need to have all the appliances for the right fittings. All ovens should be of standard size. Just make sure your contractor is doing the right thing by having one circuit breaker in the Distribution board just for the oven only. It means you can't simply use the normal wall power point for the oven as the electric oven requires more power and if you do so, you are likely to overload the power point and cause fire.
Do you have any plan/measurement of your kitchen? The overhead cabinets are definitely a must-have for us as we are so short of storage space before the renovation. -

It's really fun coz the birds actuall fly in to watch you cook and see if they can get some scrapes or the neighbour's cat sneaking in to beg for food
