Yep.... and in fact the clearing and drainage of peatland for palm oil plantations adds a huge amount of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. apparently, the biofuel craze in europe is fueling a boom in palm oil in indonesian and malaysia, but that itself is leading to widespread deforestation and air-pollution ... (we know that in singapore very well, the haze) ... so it's ending up that biofuels are actually dumping more carbon onto the atmosphere than fossil fuels ...
