It was quite simple to make really. Best to make the shell the night before and let it cool in the oven overnight. Put that in the fridge in the morning and just fill it with whipped cream before you want to serve.Originally posted by the Bear:one of these days, i'm going to make one

We were whipping the cream with the beater (one that you just let it do the work type) last night, before everyone turned up. My hubby and I were preparing something else at that time and forgot to check the cream and it ended up turning into butter. So my hubby had to go out and get another bottle of thickened cream.
So if you do make one, please do not make the same mistake.
Also, you need to separate the egg white properly. Any egg yolk in it will not work. When I was making the pav on Friday night, I had to make it twice. There had to be some yolk in the mixture and it didn't work so I had to throw it out and make another one.

It's not that hard to bake so long as you follow the step correctly and put in the correct portion of ingredients.

anyway, the "watery butter" can be used in creamy soups...
creamy soup is best with an obscene amount of butter

I was forced to leave the Whinehouse outing early just now. Lotsa work to do.
It's one thing to not do my tutorials, but I've got a group term paper to do, and I sure as heck can't let my group members down.
At least it's on the ethics behind building the Three Gorges Dam. Not too difficult for me to research on - lots and lots of controversy behind building that thing. -
i think somewhere someone said something about sustainability of that.. about silt clogging up everything

Yeah... that's one of the points of contention. It has been claimed that the dam would increase siltation and would eventually render the flood-control capability of the dam moot. There are many other controversial issues regarding the dam - the forced resettlement of the people living along the river, the cost of the dam, security issues, environmental concerns, loss of historical sites... you name it. -
that's just the thing.. "progress" full steam ahead, damn the torpedos..
which is what the PRC is now paying for... with runaway pollution and a lot of other things like environmental degradation...
sad thing is that they could have used the new technology available then when they started their mad rush, but shortcuts have cost them dear now...
sometimes people do have to stop to wonder.. just like Singapore needs to stop and think.. what is all this manic rush towards "progress" for? it is more like regression where everyone becomes less human, everyone is rushing and everyone has stopped being human...
like the great Mahatma once said, There is more to life than increasing its speed.
with all this industralisation and manic rush, we're rushing onwards faster and faster into an abyss, but no one wants to go anywhere near the brakes for fear that the other guy will reach that abyss first..
weird huh?
btw, seriously, i did say this yesterday, go to The Corporation and see what industralisation and corporations have done to the world.. -
Hmm... ok.... I honestly don't remember your mentioning the film yesterday. I must be getting old.
Anyway, yeah, 'progress' is a highly subjective term. On average, we may be more financially well-off than in the past, but it all counts for nuts if it comes at the expense of our own physical and psychological wellbeing. And it doesn't make sense if we have to step on the toes of others to get ahead - and that includes the toes of mother nature.
Oh well... back to work now. See ya again in an hour.

a dude in an African village with his 3 wives and some children, a plot of land where they do subsistence farming, all are pretty happy as they are, totally ignorant of things like money and electricity...
someone comes in, says that they are way below the poverty line, introduces a lot of things like money, "increased yield crop" and other things like that..
the next thing, the guy who is sold by all these new fangled things gets himself into a pit of debt and he has to morgage his land to finance these things..
ultimately, he loses everything after a bad crop..
now.. how poor was he before he was labelled as "poor".. and how poor he is now after attempts to "help him" ? -

hey, there was one guy who went to JB, his car was stolen, then it was found at the spot again where he left it...
he drove back and asked the people there to do a complete stripdown of the car in case they used it to smuggle things... -
