just looking at the MLM forum occasionally, there will be people who keep saying that "this MLM company is publicly listed.. blah blah" and when you ask them about how it works, there's a lot of obfuscation...

so, how do you get paid?
is it because you have sold the product? or do you get paid because you have gotten more people to join the company?

oh.. got to add.. thing about MLMs here is that the products are never in question, only the ways they get people to "sell" their products...
there are a few companies which say that you cannot buy the product unless you are a member.. membership costs an arm and a leg... but you get "free X number of the product"
they will then ask you to recruit more members and you get paid each time you recruit more members.. and if your recruits recruit more, you get a cut too..
that's like pyramid selling but only there's a lot of obfuscation going on, it's barely legal... -
Via commission. I get 20% off every order. Been with them since 99. I had 13 recruits way back when before they all fell by the wayside. You do get a promotion if you get X people who are actively selling.Originally posted by the Bear:so, how do you get paid?

as opposed to a lot of crap in singapore where the focus is on recruiting... the products are secondary...
heck! i've been told by one lot that "you can throw away the product also nevermind" and that if you concentrate on having X number of recruits, you will be ensured $XX
and almost to reinforce the idea that they are a scam, they said that to prove that they are not a scam, you can only have 5 "recruits" and if you want to have more recruits, you have to purchase "another membership" or be someone else's "recruit"

i redid the math for him and showed him that everything is rubbish, i was kinda "chased out"

I've signed up with 5 MLM companies here in the past 7 years and I've got friends in other companies. Mostly all the same kind of incentives for us consultants. The difference lie in the Host rewards programmes. Of all I've seen PC has the most generous. Helps that I love their product. -

they probably make their money from these "membership fees"
the one that chased me out required each person pay about $950 plus GST for 5 bottles of some questionable pills which i googled the ingredients and found similar products to be worth about $20 for a large bottle equal to 2 1/2 of their bottles.. -

heck, i read the mlm forum almost everyday, the kind of rubbish some of the people spouted in trying to make their companies look legitimate
i asked one of them what he mean when he said investments in his scheme is guaranteed by the law
he came with rubbish including how is company is registered, submit financial reports, there are laws in this land...and it shouldnt be a problem coz his company existed for 28 years
then i have to tell him that every damn company, legitimate operations or not, has to register under the Companies Act, submitting financial reports to ACRA is a must
then i have to tell him the difference between bounded by the law and guaranteed by the law, no one would enact a law guaranteeing your investments in any scheme, and the mere presence of competent police force and effective laws is not a guarantee the company is legitimate
and like many companies who said they existed for xx number of years, and get listed, and that awards, he couldnt prove it, and i cant bear to tell him how many schemes his company came up with within the last three years that siphoned a lot of money and failed

i know for a lot of MLM companies they had only one scheme and tweaked it over the years, this particular company has bee initiating scheme after scheme, earns and close them down, or they are not earning and they didnt declare
and they said they are making a profit, and they knew very well the boss has other non MLM business he can earn from if his schemes dont work, yet they are praising the boss sky high and at the same time living like a pauper
i really dont understand -
What I don't understand is how someone can believe that you don't have to work much for alot of money
All the successful people in MLM all put in a hell lot of effort and time before they can start to relax a little but to maintain their income they have to continue to put in the effort and time
The thing is MLM is like having yr own little business
How is it going to generate income or continue to generate if you don't maintain. You have to train your downlines etc which takes a hell lot of time -
