Yeah! So I made sure those who didn't get apples weren't around when I distributed them!Originally posted by honeymouse:I know what you meant. I'd do the same thing too, just give to those I am close to. The only thing is, I try not to make it too obvious to people I don't like....![]()

Guess we wish we were rich enough to be THAT generous, but unfortunately, we can't afford that!
I still wish I'll someday be well-off enough to host dinners for my friends.![]()
Orh... poor Bear. Nevermind, there's always next year!Originally posted by the Bear:was told to be on standby because people really high up are haggling over the budget... they're so high up that oxygen doesn't reach their brains so they're all kinda brain-damaged
only thing is.. today i'm told that my section doesn't have to do that anymore
but then, i'm stuck anyway because stupid vendors are effed up and i have to deal with them.. currently re-writing a whole script (at least my colleagues are.. it's in mandarin) for them..
Yes!!!!! The thunderous noise! The sudden gush of wind that kinda knocks you back if you stand too close... Yess!!!!Originally posted by the Bear:i love the noise of the GP.. the force of which it hits you.. you can actually feel your innards shudder...
Potluck can be kinda inconvenient to some people. I've been absent from potluck parties before in the past because I wasn't able to cook anything because of circumstances.Originally posted by the Bear:there's always potluck..
which reminds me.. cammy says she would like to turn up if she can.. (gotta ask the hostess)

You think my 'circumstances' refer to an inability to cook?Originally posted by the Bear:there are stacks of recipes in the recipe topic, some require prior prep and then you just bring there
like oxtail stew.. cook up a pot.. allow to simmer overnight... when it's time, wrap in a blanket and bring it there
Preferred solutions of course is for my baby brother to get his own private property and house mother as he so boasted he would.Originally posted by Fatum:so what's the preferred solution then ? .... you'd need a place, and your mom needs a place .... and the needs of both seems to be conflicting ....

But since they both cannot afford it. They are likely to pick option 3 and I'll need that black van; follow, kidnap & delivered a man to me operations to be successful. If not, sell the place, hides at some other forsaken corner of the world and be done with it.
I know that problem. Which is why I am sooo reluctant to lose my own litle HDB flat.Originally posted by Rhonda:Living in rented places sometimes presents challenges and situations that comfortably-settled folks might not even think of.
I know... I learnt from you and Richard re. bringing own meat to BBQ yesterday.Originally posted by honeymouse:Wait till your dream (become "filthy rich") comes true!!
Actually, you don't need to be well-off to host dinners for your friends. People here usually happy to bring some food along (if it's at your place) or pay for their own meal (if at the restaurant). Don't let that hold you back from organising things with your friends.
Hey, we should have a steam boat session at my place one day. I am up for it most weekends so it just depends on your work roster. Get a few others like Tracy and bear's sister along. What do you think?![]()

'Circumstances' could mean work schedule / no kitchen available / kitchen available but not setup with cooking implements, etc etc.

I run away to your place and you feed me for 3 years want or not?Originally posted by Fatum:lai, tell us, which one you one ? ... we'll help ....
but the "run away" options sound good too ... sometimes you just need a few years respite from everything, eh ....
