Pavlova is nothing but a pouffed up mound of sugar-laden sugarthingy, which is made even sweeter by the fruits which might be soaked in syrup.Originally posted by the Bear:*thinks about recipe topic and is suddenly seized by insane craving for pavlova*

Oh, the sales in US and Australia can be so darn incredible!Originally posted by viciouskitty74:Oooh...I went shopping at target just now. My sister dropped me off there while she and little boy went to Kohls to try to find some long sleeve shirts & pants for school.
I was leisurely going thru the aisle and even came up with some cheap nice clothes which I can wear.
Namely 1 brown velvety cardigan at USD4.99 & then surprise surprise another brown long sleeve cotton tee at USD4.98!
then they have some clearance sale going on... Some of the cosmetics was downright cheap! I brought like 14 peices of cosmetics from Revlon, Maybelline & L'oreal and the total dont even come up to USD$40/-
this is shopping therapy at its best.![]()
Lemon meringue is a bit more bearable, because the tangy lemon is a good balance to offset the diabetic-coma-inducing sweetness.Originally posted by the Bear:of course...
it's actually lots of sugar in beaten eggwhite with a dollop of vinegar in it to keep the inside soft while the outside becomes hard and crisp..
another fave of mine is lemon meringue which i cannot find here
probably the humidity ruins it quickly..
Hee hee... I think we have a lot in common interms of being hospitable to our friends. I love having friends over and to cook a storm if time permits.Originally posted by Rhonda:I know... I learnt from you and Richard re. bringing own meat to BBQ yesterday.
However, if I'm ever filthy rich, my friends will be invited, and they don't have to bring anything cause there'll be a buffet so big everyone can even ta-bao stuff home! Well, that's part of my filthy rich dream anyways!
I remember working for a VIP multi-millionaire family just two years ago and wandering in their huge compound, I couldn't help thinking, "If I lived here, can hold a party here or there and everyone will be happy!"
Sigh...
Oh wah! Steamboat session sounds fun! Hopefully will give advance notice so I can get some seafood from the Richmond Market!![]()

I have the recipe for lemom meringue if you want. Will put it up when I get home. It's actually quite a lot of work involved. Have helped my mother-in-law to make one just not long ago.Originally posted by the Bear:of course...

The pav (the recipe I put up) is not that bad, quite easy really. All you need is patient and a good mixer as the mixture gets very stiff in the end. Also, we learned that you can't even have a tinsy winsy bit of yolk in the egg white as it won't work.Originally posted by the Bear:nah.. thing is that i've never learnt to bake properly.. and with pavs and meringue, you really need skill
