errmmm....I cant just buy shades off any shelf. I've only had a couple of shades which I wore and love it, the no brand ones. One I brought back from Seattle. Stole if off the table of my friend. he let me keep it. And it really was my favourite.
But I lost it, somewhere between the 2 weeks before I flew to USa again.
And now......I cant find a pair of shades I can wear w/o walking in a zig zag fashion.

You know I was thinking of getting those retro looking glasses with tinted glass that changes with the concentration of UV lights. I don't take contacts well coz my eyes are very dry -

Anyway, I got them at 10% discount because I showed the optician my matriculation card.
But even so, I should think that $180 is reasonable for spectacles with photochromic lenses. They're multicoated and scratch-resistant as well.
Outside, Transitions lenses cost $300 at least if you include the frame. You'll be paying mainly for the brand name. -

let's see.. i found my Ray Bans not too long ago.. got a pair of cheapo knockoffs of a knockoff Nike blue shades in my car, a pair of safety goggles from Kings which look like those "blade" sunglasses.. and my broken trodden-on Oakleys...
and i still need glasses at night -
btw kitten, they're not certified.. i think they actually may be certifiable

Try to avoid contact lenses unless you have the patience to clean them.
The lenses that you were thinking of getting (to change with concentration of UV lights) are transition lenses. -
these days got the daily wear lenses... use and then throw away
part of the disposable age i guess.. where everything, even people are disposable

sloth = bad idea for contacts...
i guess for people like me, where i can see pretty well in the daytime, can drive without my glasses, it's no point getting contacts..
worse still, even if i wanted to go for lasik, i can't coz the myopia isn't that high
oh well.. glasses then.. and i don't get eye infection too -

it was freezing cold now cos it just rained where I am at. so must radiate heat somehow.
of cos they are not certified. so easy to see lah...fracking freezing cold. I am dreading my shower. -

and it is not "mature technology".. that is, what happens 10 or 20 years down the line, no one knows.. your cornea could just disintergrate, tear or just wear out..

Transitions lenses ARE photochromic lenses... it's just a brand name.
The optician demonstrated to me the effects of a Transitions lens and a generic photochromic lens under UV light... the darkening effect is pretty much the same.
Which is why I say, if you want to go for photochromic lenses, just go for a generic brand... no point paying extra for the brand. -
I only wear glasses when my eyes are truly tired and when everything is blurry.
Or when I shoot. its not to get a better aim. Its just to protect the eyes from richochets.
Most times, I go without glasses. -
oh.. when it comes to shooting or aiming, i need my glasses..
it's my right eye that's ($*#ed
