My dad bought the flat in 1989 for $120K.
People thought he was nuts to have done so.... well, it's now worth over $500K.
In fact, back in 1997 before the economic crisis, I remember that one of my neighbours sold his flat for $620K. -

My sister just told me of something nasty.
its called Nasi Kang Kang.
Rumour is, some women from some countries, will stand over (Legs apart) some rice cooking. The steam from the rice will rise up and condense on the down south of the woman standing ontop and form droplets and drop down back into the rice.
Then these women will serve the rice to their Ang moh Boyfriends, and the boyfriends will be so in love with them and follow the females anywhere!
Now, dont get the wrong ideas that it sounded Malay. It was practised by the Phllipines women?
Me and bro in law went "EEEEeeeeeeeeee!"
But she does raise a interesting point about Angmohs and some asian females.
Her comments: Have you see some of the asian females (SPG type) that is married to the Angmohs? THEY ARE SO UGLY!
My rationale: They think asians are exotic wat, so their idea of beauty is probably screwed to think ugly is beautiful? -

'Kang kang' means 'to squat' in Malay.
I suppose it sounds Malay precisely because both Malay and Tagalog are quite heavily influenced by Sanskrit.
That said, I certainly hope that this 'Nasi Kang Kang' is just an urban legend.... It has to be really painful for the woman who has to prepare that dish. -

pawns of corporation.. governments don't matter.. maybe i should have given you another 2 discs of the documentary "The Corporation"
you'd be even more appalled by what corporations do...
i think one of the worst things around was created by MonSatan and Cargill.. they inserted a "suicide gene" into seeds which they sold to farmers.. the seed would germinate, and produce sterile seeds which will not germinate anymore.. so that the farmers will have to keep buying seeds to grow from them...
other things they patented were things like Basmati Rice which made it suddenly illegal for farmers who were growing rice since time immemorial to grow the crop which was handed down to them since time began...
and i forgot which corporation "patented" the Neem plant which the farmers and people of India were using for millenia.. this made it illegal for them to use the Neem plant without royalties to that corporation..
maybe governments matter.. governments who are the hand of the corporations these days.. you don't have to look far for such sycophancy to corporations when you see things like taxing the people more to decrease the corporate taxes
