NUS has a tie-up with an online anti-plagiarism service: www.turnitin.com. The profs make us hand in our papers in soft copy format and check for plagiarism using this service.Originally posted by Fatum:I'm at work right now ... but there's a section on google help on advanced google techniques ....
you can look for webpages and links with entire pages of text as parameters ...
how do you think profs who cannot afford those nifty software and expensive services catch people ? ..![]()
wah ... like that then some foreign students must be getting their balls squeeze really hard, eh ? ...Originally posted by fudgester:NUS has a tie-up with an online anti-plagiarism service: www.turnitin.com. This service is damn freakin' powerful. From what I know, it has a huge database of online scholarly articles, research papers and the like which is rapidly expanding. If you so much as lift a sentence from an article, it will be able to root you out. Heck, even if you change a few words in the sentence, the service may still be able to determine if the sentence was lifted in the first place.
I should know, because I've had to upload it to turnitin before. It gave my paper a plagiarism rating of 10%. But my prof accepted that it was due to some (properly cited) quotations by some individuals that I had included in the paper, as well as the chance that some sentences simply cannot be expressed in more than one way.
And besides, like I said, I doubt that my team member would have been diligent to actually add hyperlinks to key terms in his text if he had typed it from scratch.
I don't know about them, and I honestly don't care.Originally posted by Fatum:wah ... like that then some foreign students must be getting their balls squeeze really hard, eh ? ...![]()
you know what I do when it comes to such members ? ...Originally posted by fudgester:I don't know about them, and I honestly don't care.
I'm gonna confront this team member of mine tomorrow with the evidence of the hyperlinks. If I can find the original article, all the better. I don't give a sh*t as to what kind of excuse he's gonna give... I'm gonna demand that he rewrites his part of the group term paper in his own words from scratch.
If he does not accede to my demands, there will be hell to pay...![]()

I was wondering why devil was suddenly so interested to be reaquainted with the Club30s people out of the blue.
So how? Has he tried to show up at Club 30s outings yet or still playing the hit and run game where he happily suck on the other people balls and then go and go and try to tweedle other people's balls with his puny stick?
Sorry, dam....its funny. For a guy who dont dare to face up to a small petite fat female face to face, much less on the phone. He sure likes to behave like he could take on the real world.
Right....I went shopping today instead of with the family & grandparents to strawberry farm. Shopping therapy is good!
And hisoka, Candy factory sells about 50 kinds of jelly beans, what flavour you want? If I mixed them, wait you cant tell the difference in flavour. So how? Or you want the generic flavours from Walmart?
cos they have a profit margin to protect, so must be exp.Originally posted by sbst275:Where got cheap
Actually if they're cheap, all the chap huey tiam would be dead long ago
Actually they order merchandise in bulk, so that gives them the economics of scale as well as the better power of bargaining of price with the supplier compared to the chap huey tiam
But well...
That's only for SKU under category like mop, sponge, stationaryOriginally posted by Kenashi:cos they have a profit margin to protect, so must be exp.
from what i heard from my friend who audited part of their group, they mark up at least 3 times the cost price
i guess mixed is fine or the generics. just don't get me one which say liquorice as one of or the major flavourOriginally posted by viciouskitty74:

Read today's paper.... More and more ppl who qualify for JC courses are ditching it for polytechnic...
As far as I know, Poly grads if they were to go for Uni open hse, they might still get discriminatedOriginally posted by hisoka:cos nowadays its not as easy for jc pple to go uni/not as hard for poly pple to go uni.
and however you look at it, if you suay suay don't go uni, a poly diploma is way ahead of a A lvl cert
Some of the poly courses, that day I kpo kpo go see the cut off pt, it's like you must get A1 or A2 to get inOriginally posted by udontknowme:hehehe...i know quite a lot of pple with single digit points going to poly...
in fact a knew a bunch of 6 pointers who decided that it was either AC or poly.
but they all got into AC in the end lah...
well truth is jc is probably better for the more academically inclined.Originally posted by sbst275:As far as I know, Poly grads if they were to go for Uni open hse, they might still get discriminated
Maybe it just takes time for society to change
