Wow... you had a really lovely childhood!
It's sad that more and more 'natural' areas of Singapore are gradually making way for urbanisation. 
But then again, I guess to accommodate 6.5 million people in our tiny country, that's inevitable. -

my childhood was spent in a "kampong" right where the new turf club now stands .... catching spiders and dragonflies ... trapping birds ... fishing .... running wild ...
I'm kinda glad I had this few year of bliss before I got into urban life ... -
