A lot of their frail elderly try to be independant as long as they can too! They fight to live alone and not be in some nursing home. They gamely wobble about in their "Wheelie Frames", which are sturdy walking frames with two or four wheels, and sometimes a little padded seat and a basket underneath, so when they are tired, they just sit on the seat for a while, and when they are out shopping or marketing, they can chuck their stuff in the basket under the seat!I've seen an old lady chuck her little dog in the basket and I see her every week in Richmond market!

In Singapore, most of the elderly don't have a good independant spirit. Most of them, when they are just a little bit ill, act like they are on their deathbed.Originally posted by sbst275:I see
Over here, I think it would take years man....
I think you are mothering yr niece and nephew more then their motherOriginally posted by viciouskitty74:little gal is teething, so beri clingy and she now has the habit to scream at me when she wants something.
like today, she screams at me and stretch her arms. (It means to carry her.)
there is of course, when she picks up a pair of beautiful butterfly wings and hands it to me, scream at me. (It means to put it on her.)
And I am so grateful that little gal is appreciative of my cooking, she now finishes about 3/4 of her food at mealtimes. (That kid is hard to feed & please. auntie is sooo happy that the food is well received. I am starting to what you call, 'capture their stomach'.)
little boy still has slight fever and bad cough, more obvious when he was on the stroller walk with me.
Sis is breastfeeding, but started menstrating. Guess its about time to wean the gal off the breastmilk soon.
Another note: Sis is just plain obvious lazy. I am working like a phillipine maid.

Over here, they can have a huge operation, like a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, and by the third day, they are up and about with determination!
The elderly are also very practical here. They talk to their children about what kind of funeral arrangements they want, and sometimes, they even pay for their own funeral package, so they won't burden their children upon their death!
I really admire their attitude!![]()

I kinda wanna do a 3-week tour in Korea! Start with a typical package tour, then free-and-easy! I want to explore the beautiful countryside areas too! Stay in a temple for a night or two just for the experience!
I'm trying to learn basic conversational Korean before the trip!![]()
