I love how genuine the 'rough and tumble' folks are! They don't pretend, they are as they are, and I really love being acquainted with them. THey are truly salt of the earth!

I'm so lucky to have met quite a few of them in the course of my work here.

And that has made me realise, that if marrying rich means I have to put on those 'airs' and be obsessed with my physical appearance and always present myself neatly dressed and not a hair out of place, then sorry, I'd rather marry a truck driver and be part of the 'rough and tumble' gang!

Like what one of my colleagues from the UK said, "The bloody Aussies can be more status-conscious than us bloody Brits, damnit!" (She peppers her conversations with 'bloody' and 'hell' etc a lot!

)
Same here.
i was just chatting with my sister about the folks I met on the walks with the kids.
Cos we lived in a upper middle class neighbourhood. The people here are kind rude.
Except for a few neighbours. Even the other nannies, when they see me, dont know I am mother of the kids or the nanny, so they are polite but otherwise leave me alone.
And its often then not, the older ladies on their power walks or old men with doggies that are kind and friendly.
Even the mexican grass cutter was so surprised that I made the little gal wave them goodbye when we passed.
You can see the smiles breaking from the very sun brozed craggy faces when littl gal says in her ultra small 'Teh' voice saying 'byyyyeeee'.
These people here are very polite when they see me. Switching off their grass cutters, the leaf blowing machines when I walked by....and they will stand quietly at side machiam like I am royalty passing by.
The rude wans are those middle age power tai tais; teenagers & men though. Kids are just shy here.
