Ok... I've dealt with the NUS Student Service Center on the issue of them regarding me as a Yr 4 student even though I'm still in my third year.
It may seem like a minor issue, but it is causing me major problems as we speak - because of this screw-up, I've been barred from registering for a module I want to go for over the holidays. And not to mention the potential problems I could face when I'm actually in Yr 4 and the system thinks that I'm an overstayer.
Apparently their software thinks that I'm a Yr 4 student because I had overloaded on a couple of semesters and claimed credit for an internship last year.
They told me that 'We would look into it', but I retorted: 'Don't just look into it. MAKE IT HAPPEN!'
And I ranted at them for causing me so much trouble.... it culminated with a threat of me going to the Dean of Engineering for an investigation.

I agree that I had taken six instead of the recommended five modules in two semesters (including the current one, in fact).
But then again, I'm not the only person to do that. Quite a number of people I know did that as well.
If anything, one of my seniors actually overloaded by taking SEVEN modules in two of his semesters.
The end result? His final year was a walk in the park for him.

we all wear uniforms.. which is good.. a substantial amount of money is saved as we don't have to buy officewear

Apparently it IS indeed their policy to upgrade Yr 3 students who have cleared a certain number of credits to Yr 4. It just so happens that they didn't inform me about this, I was totally in the dark, and there is no clear ruling telling all students about this.
None of my peers seem to have heard of this ruling, and indeed, it needed lots of checks and clarifications on the part of the admin staff to certify that this was the policy.
I guess I might have overreacted somewhat, but then again, they didn't make this ruling clear to us in the first place. And besides, a few people who overloaded as much as I did are still considered to be Yr 3 students.
And on their part, they have decided to manually add me to the TIP module which I was shooting for.
Oh well.
