with "FINE" and all kinds of things all over the buttons, plus the growing apathy and cynicism of the people, it is no wonder that people didn't push the button..
that, and the growing complacency that "it won't happen to me or around me" lulls people into an inability to react at all to anything out of the ordinary...
i swear if there was a bomb, and people were told to evacuate, they'd just stand there without moving for a long time before anything.. because they'd be:
1 - too slow to act or react
2 - too complacent and believe it's a drill so they will not care
3 - too cynical and refuse to believe there is actually a bomb
4 - too self-absorbed to think of anything or anyone else
all these things add up... and from the recent rocking of the building due to the earthquake, it is evident... while we were evacuating the building, the public were arguing with the security who were trying to stop the people from entering the building.. they insisted on going in even tho' the security fellas told them that the building was being evacuated.. -
