learning and rememebring too much does affect ability to learn new stuff. which is why i delete most of the thigns i studied after the examsOriginally posted by fudgester:They actually think that seeking general knowledge actually 'crowds out' their academic knowledge from their brains.
Some of them go so far as to say that I'm worse off by wanting to know more things.
Not trying to brag, but somehow I still thrash most of them at the exams though.
So much for the 'crowding-out' theory.![]()

I know the evils of WoW BearOriginally posted by the Bear:now then you know...
the moment she said he was playing a few months ago, i knew...
because WoW is EVIL
but seriously, some games are obsessive.. this is one of them because of the interaction and it's task and goal-related... it's very easy to just forget everything and be obsessive about achieving it...
in other news, have you guys seen what the PS3 can do?
you can enter their "world", create an avatar and go walk about in their world.. i think it's free.. you will meet others, go view their "records" of games, their "trophies"... each will have an apartment where they can display all these things..
each can also show off what they have downloaded (yes, you can download stuff with the PS3) and interact with players and denizens all over the world..
the stuff downloaded are games, previews, movie trailers.. stuff like that.. it's cool
i forget them. and i'm talking about nonsense like the date some idiot died or how some idiot lived his life or whats the exact details of the citric acid cycle....Originally posted by the Bear:how the hell do you delete stuff in your head?
seriously...
until now, all i have to do is to refer to a math book, and all the calculus stuff floods back and i can pretty much do calculus to a pretty advanced level..
Ans: Hai2 ta3 ?Originally posted by the Bear:okay.. i'm a bit shakened...
a few people in my office (senior officers included) do not know what a beaver is... even after i showed them a pic of one and the lodge and dams the critters build.. they didn't know what they are
and all i asked is "what chinese for beaver?"
omg...Originally posted by the Bear:now then you know...

But if they do follow the news and current affairs, they will know that manufacturing/assembly is all headed over to countries like India and China and that they should seriously consider retraining for a different vocation based on how the local economy is restructuring instead of being caught by suprise when their factories announce a mass layoff or close shop altogether.Originally posted by hisoka:probably but i can see most of them will be able to go through life ok even if they end up ignorant.
i mean so what if the president of north korea got overturned; no real effects on them if they are just factory workers in singapore, not any they can change by knowing anyway.
