  I dunno if you have roller shutters...
  Can leave a small gap at the bottom for the cat to slip out at night...

  It depends...some young cats aren't so intelligent...those cat litter that resembles sand are the safest bet....coz it's closest to natural sand/soil. But I have a feeling this cat, being quite garang is quite smart.
