I have to agree with you on this - Singaporeans like sweet stuff. They use sweet dark soy sauce for char kway teow and most of the food has some sweetness in it.Originally posted by elindra:that was what I thought

We grew up in Brunei and the food we have in Brunei is more towards the Malaysian i.e. more savoury. Every time my sisters (who work in Singapore) go back to Brunei for CNY, the first thing they have is the Char Kway Teow.
Last June when we visited Singapore, we also went to Penang for a short holiday for a few days. Took my mum along also. Both my hubby and mum kept saying how much they enjoyed the Malaysian food more than Singaporean food.
Please don't get me wrong. The food in Singapore is still nice but it's very much up to the individual, if the person prefers sweet things or not. For my family including my hubby, we prefer savoury food.![]()
thats cause sg stall owners more stingy and calculativeOriginally posted by elindra:I dunno about that
The Malaysian drinks are always so much sweeter then in SG

Someone's package came in late, so it was waiting for me at home. Some board game. That fella who orders that will have to wait till July to get it earliest.
I am really going to change my flight back to asia. Instead of Singapore, to go to Thailand direct.
Had a long talk with sis. Looks like I really need to get a marriage cert on standby, or mother is going to be difficult to deal with again.
MY food good! cheap(for us)Originally posted by elindra:I prefer savoury food
That is why I love eating char kuey teow in Malaysia and wanton mee too
It's too sweet for me as well.
That is why I keep saying the only food I will miss in Singapore is Chicken Rice
I was telling my malaysian friend that he has so much nice savoury food in M'sia and he keeps wanting to come to Singapore to eat
Reason: We have better steaks and meatsand better sushi

Oh I see. Malaysia has lots of good food too. We were in Penang for only 4 days and I think we tried almost all the popular food over there. Yum. The food there is also less oily.Originally posted by elindra:Singaporean

And I have lots of friends in Malaysia too
Plus my job also brings me into Malaysia
