Ok... Poly offers diploma courses, mostly 3 year full time courses wheras JC offers 2 year A Lvl courses
Aft Secondary 4 O Levels exam..Originally posted by honeymouse:So at what stage do you have to decide if you are going to Poly/JC?
Can people go to Uni after Poly?
Ok. Thanks for the explanation.Originally posted by sbst275:Aft Secondary 4 O Levels exam..
Oh... There's good chances these days... In fact I did read an recent article, 1 poly in fact said 75% of its students eventually went on to the uni be it local or overseas in 5 years
i tell u, NTU accountancy leaves 10% vacancy for poly students out of 600, that'll be 60.Originally posted by sbst275:Aft Secondary 4 O Levels exam..

during my time, at least for the local unis it was quite hard for poly grads to go to the local unis. needed to be like top 5 %. whereas for jc it was like 80 or 90% went in.Originally posted by honeymouse:So at what stage do you have to decide if you are going to Poly/JC?

Eh... I dunno but I believe as time go by, they are slowly opening up places... I might be wrong in thisOriginally posted by Wanda:I thot the local uni are still very "cat" about accepting poly grads?
Come to think of it...they shd be "cat" about it, otherwise the poly grads would be getting double the subsidies by going to uni after poly....no? Shd spread the opportunities to more folks.![]()
yupz.Originally posted by honeymouse:That's why many Singaporeans come to Oz to study?!

And some decided to stay here for good after they completed the course, like me except I'm not Singaporean. If I don't stay in Oz, I'll most likely work in Singapore as a foreign talent as there's little opportunity in Brunei.Originally posted by elindra:yeah![]()
The education here is subsidised, don't you know? Even with the thousands of dollars of fees at the uni. So if they get diploma + degree, it's getting double subsidy.Originally posted by stellazio:huh? how come double subsidies??
My pralines and turtle food!!!Originally posted by the Bear:they should not be punishing the poly students because they are good..

You forgot the group that actually went to go to poly coz they already had plans to go to an overseas university and no intentions of going to the local university and see the potential of saving fees by going to poly instead of jcOriginally posted by hisoka:forgot to add.
no offence but from my experience, unless they go to those good unis, or are those creme of the crop types, most of the sg who go aussie or elsewhere to do undergrads only, either they are poly students who are unable to get into local unis( well i won't say they are lousy since its hard to get in) and jc students who weren't able to get into local unis.
So i walk over now or whatOriginally posted by the Bear:6pm
but the turtlefood is in the car.. i'll go get it..
back in a while
its true..the poly just use it to mark up their % stats to make it more attractive.Originally posted by hisoka:forgot to add.
