I'll inform av, Mookie, and Schrodinger of this change in timing. Perhaps they might be able to make it.

Yes, it was.Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:Quick question: was the movie "V for Vendetta" ever screened in Singapore?
there was one ?Originally posted by fudgester:Yes, it was.
But the video release has been pulled off the shelves.
From what I heard, it's due to its anti-Christian undertones... but I'm thinking that the real reason has got to do with its controversial political message.
Ah, okay.Originally posted by fudgester:Yes, it was.

you mean it might not sit well with the PAPOriginally posted by Meia Gisborn:Ah, okay.
The reason I asked was that I watched the DVD of the movie for the first time last night and came away with the impression that the politcial commentary contained in the movie might not sit well with a Singapore audience.

Which is why I say that that might be the actual reason for the video release being pulled off the shelves.Originally posted by av98m:you mean it might not sit well with the PAP
I actually had no idea it was pulled off the shelves. I bought a copy as soon as it appeared at BordersOriginally posted by fudgester:Which is why I say that that might be the actual reason for the video release being pulled off the shelves.
I won't deny that the movie has anti-Christian undertones, but if that were the real reason, then I would have thought that the cinema release would be banned as well.
At first only the VCD was released.Originally posted by av98m:I actually had no idea it was pulled off the shelves. I bought a copy as soon as it appeared at Borders![]()

Gee, its a good thing I bought the DVD when I saw it thenOriginally posted by fudgester:At first only the VCD was released.
But then it was eventually pulled off the shelves... quietly. I don't remember reading about any announcement or anything. I found out from other local forums that it was due to its anti-Christian themes like the paedophilic bishop.
In any case, I found a copy lying around in Sembawang Music Center. It was, to me, the best movie of 2006, and I didn't think twice about plonking down the cash for it.
Yeah man... to me it was the best movie of 2006. Try going to Video Ezy or any other music/video stores... dollars to donuts that you wouldn't be able to find it.Originally posted by av98m:Gee, its a good thing I bought the DVD when I saw it then
Then again, I could have downloaded it too
I did enjoy the movie.
