I was so totally burnt out working for them that I just couldn't envision myself working in the corporate world again. I was in HR when they acquired Digital and another smaller American PC firm and there was massive in-fighting, incredible politics and then, the horrible retrenchment exercise during that period. I remember when hubby (he was still my bf then) came to visit me in Singapore (when I was working in Singapore), he was surprised to get out without getting inspected.
It was quite funny really. I was waiting for him outside and I kept waving at him as he was heading towards the exit (after claiming his baggages). He didn't see me and kept looking around until he walked through the sliding door and was shocked to have me appeared infront of him. He was expecting something like in Melbourne where you had to go through some custom officers to check your baggages. -

there are only 4 things in singapore which attract duty... they are Motor Vehicles, Motor Spirits (petrol and stuff like that), Alcohol and Tobacco
everything else is NOT DUTIABLE!
however, you do have to pay GST if the stuff you have exceeds a certain amount

OK, back to serious stuff. Yes... overexposure can lead to cancer. In fact, Radiotherapists and Radiologists and all other staff who work in the Radiography Dept have to put on lead vests if they come into close contact with X-rays or stand behind a lead panel when taking X-Rays. They also have to wear a special tag on their coat which absorbs radiation and indicates when they have had more exposure than is comfortable, then they will be reassigned to other tasks for a period.
Bear, I'm quite surprised no precautions are being taken for you guys!
