Heck, my own aunt herself said that she wouldn't have hired me to teach her kids if I wasn't her nephew. And before the first lesson, she kept reminding me to go easy on my cousins - as if I'm gonna chew them up or something.
Well, at least she had a change of heart after she saw their results shoot up.
The female bit ... ok, if they have a daughter who's going to be home alone, then they might have concerns with the gender of the tutor, for safety reasons. Not saying that ALL male tutors are dodgy, but sometimes, it's a risk the parents would rather not take. Guess the parents are just being very vigilant.
How about asking your aunt, who's happy with the results you have produced, to ask around and recommend you to the parents of your cousins' classmates / schoolmates? -

Yeah especially since parents are not home these days
Actually Fudgie, have you considered giving group tuition? Coz it might be easier to get students as a guy coz parents feel safer if the kids were in a group. -

they are addictive. much preferable then those multi flavour jellybeans.
is it just me, or my monotonous lifestyle, that i can be content with eating same thing everytime. -

They were interested in signing me up, but their teaching philosophy is at odds with my teaching philosophy. Their philosophy was 'grill the students and make them score - at all costs'.
My philosophy is to 'guide the students and help them understand and appreciate what is being taught'.
It's sad that we've become a society that focuses more on the results and less on the process. -
