My sis saw that my finances were tight and gave me some money. $200, to be precise.
I know I should feel over the moon, but it feels pretty sucky having her give me that kind of money. I asked her to take back at least some of it, but she simply told me to 'save whatever you don't spend'.
Whatever the case, I just hope I can get the Sentosa job this Wednesday.

Don't feel 'sucky' about it, though. I'm sure that, if the situation were reversed, you'd be more than willing to help her out with some cash too, right?
Assuming that the $200 wasn't a loan, it might be a nice gesture on your part to give her back the $200 once your financial situation improves.
Good luck on being able to secure the job at Sentosa. What'll you be doing there? -
Think of it this way, in the beginning, when you're just starting out, you will need a bit of help to get you started. Afterall, before you start work, you will need to purchase office wear and what-not to look presentable on the job, etc. You also won't get your first paycheck till about a month later and in the meantime, you'll need money to eat and for transport too.Originally posted by fudgester:My sis saw that my finances were tight and gave me some money. $200, to be precise.

Just thank your sis graciously, and spend the money well. I'm sure she feels good helping you out as well. You can always return it back to her next time when you're better off. -

She gives me money every now and then, knowing that I pretty much earn my own pocket money through giving tuition and am financing my own studies through loans. I've offered to repay at least some of the money after I graduate, but she just told me to forget about it and to concentrate on my studies.
At times like this... I get reminded that I don't always have to go it alone. -
Anyway, the Sentosa job is really nothing much... ticketing, crowd control, information-giving, that kind of stuff.
It's just a way of earning some pocket money over the holidays. -
