  dot matrix is not for me In fact dunno for some funny reasons, lots of receipt printers now use thermal instead of dot matrix

  do some research and check out which has the cheapest cartridge..
  
  and make sure they have individual cartridges for each colour

  I have individual cartridges but the printer farking wont work if one colour is missing.

  If you're after an inkjet, go with HP. Canon inkjet printers have a rather spotty reliablity record.
  
  You might also want to consider getting one of those multifunction units that can also scan and copy documents. Very convenient and useful, and they're not that much more expensive than just a plain inkjet printer.
