  It will fool enough gullible idiots into thinking that it is a generous package.
  
  To date no one has ever been able to fully explain to me why the government would want to increase a regressive consumption tax and try to make up for it with a tiny expansionary fiscal policy.
  
  All I get is laughter and admonitions that 'you think too much'.
  
  I may be an engineer, but I ain't no idiot in economics, either.

  The average Singaporean voter seems to have an extremely short-term memory.
  
  Add apathy and ignorance to the mix, along with a fear of the unknown.
  
  Voila - the MIW stays in power with a rising mandate.

  my entire family witnessed deaths of 5 close relatives including my grandma in the past two or three years
  
  none from old age
  
  3 are cousins
  
  and we are recovering from my grandma's death
