His greatest novel of all was Executive Order, where the hero Jack Ryan (the dude whom Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck plays in the movies) becomes the president.
Longest novel I've ever read (1200 pages), but it was a super-satisfying read. I can still remember setting aside time to read it while preparing for my JC2 June Common Tests... if I wasn't studying, I was reading it.
Unfortunately, all novels after that sucked. Rainbow Six started the rot.
