1200 words? You should have been done with that novel in under 10 minutes.Originally posted by fudgester:Frankly speaking, I think Tom Clancy has gone down the drain.
His greatest novel of all was Executive Order, where the hero Jack Ryan (the dude whom Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck plays in the movies) becomes the president.
Longest novel I've ever read (1200 words), but it was a super-satisfying read. I can still remember setting aside time to read it while preparing for my JC2 June Common Tests... if I wasn't studying, I was reading it.
Unfortunately, all novels after that sucked. Rainbow Six started the rot.![]()
My bad. I meant 1200 pages.Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:1200 words? You should have been done with that novel in under 10 minutes.
My favorite Tom Clancy work is Red Storm Rising. Bought it to read on a Singapore-to-Minneapolis flight many years back; started reading it just after taking off from Singapore, and couldn't put it down until I had finished it, just before landing in Minneapolis some 20 hours later.
I bought and read Kitchen in Melbourne. I think it was the first book I read there. I loved it and was very engrossed when reading it. There was a magical, whimsical feel to it.Originally posted by the Bear:i never read that stuff..
i like Murakami type books..
and i wonder if Banana Yoshimoto has any new books.. i love books like that

knee... nope. strained it before but its not the "fall down clutching my knee in pain" kind. i think i jumped and landed wrongly but it was a a slight strain. that was some time back.Originally posted by fudgester:Have you busted your knees before? Any old injuries?
what i'm afraid is that i land every step heavily...Originally posted by Rhonda:Your joints, ligaments, and the bits that lubricate your joints, do wear out with age, and esp if they have been over-used over time.
People who listen to me know that I've been saying this forever - that each time you run / jog, when your foot hits the ground, your knees and ankles and foot are absorbing up to 4X your body weight!!Originally posted by kopiosatu:what i'm afraid is that i land every step heavily...
i think that will strain my knee more...
i don't have a pool~ i can only jog to exercise!
that's not glucose, the kind my mother makes with powder rite?Originally posted by the Bear:they say glucosamine is good..

You are very very evil to your poor knees and ankles!Originally posted by fudgester:I go three times a week.
