Rag-and-bone folks are ripping the aluminium cans off the Anything and Whatever drinks' advertisements at bus stops.
A BANK executive, Kwong Kok Hing has been jailed one year for pushing his girlfriend into the path of an MRT train.
Kwong, 26, was charged for attempted culpable homicide, not amounting to murder, under section 308 of the penal code. He faced imprisonment up to 7 years, fine, or both.
He allegedly pushed Ms Low Siew Mui, 26, off a platform at the Clementi MRT station on the evening of Sept 14 last year.
Ms Low, a public relations executive, managed to reach the other side of the tracks just as a train pulled into the station.
The alarm was raised and SMRT staff helped her back onto the platform as commuters held Kwong until the police arrived.
Ms Low was later treated for minor injuries.
Kwong has been in remand since Sept 16 2006 and will be freed soon.
His father, a retiree, Mr Kwong Ying Siew and mother, Mdm Chua Big Geok, as well as church friends were present in court.
Mdm Chua was emotional during the sentencing. Both parents were very happy that he had gotten a one year sentence.
They said they would bring him back to Malaysia to continue psychiatric treatment.

Where's the fizz in soft drink ad campaign?
RAG-AND-BONE folks have taken the fizz out of a $200,000 soft drink advertising campaign just days after it was launched at 450 bus stops across the country.
They were drawn to the 100 aluminium cans which framed every poster panel - ripping them off to make a quick buck.
At some bus stops, the cans lining one side of the panels were completely removed.
The ads for the soft drinks, 'Anything' & 'Whatever' went up on Friday and were supposed to run for a month.
'Anything' is a carbonated drink while 'Whatever' is non-carbonated. Each comes in six flavours.
But by Tuesday night, Out Of The Box, the soft drink company, was scrambling to take down the cans.
Said managing director Johnson Tan: 'My friends told me they saw aunties who collect scrap aluminium ripping the cans off the panels.
'We did consider that the cans may be damaged or removed, but we didn't expect 100 per cent damage.'
